HISTORY
Geriaction was formed in 1967 when it was part of the Australian Trained Nurses’ Association. It became autonomous in 1971 under an amended constitution. At this time it changed its name and opened its membership to all persons concerned with ageing and the interests of older people.

Following changes to the constitution in 1987 it became a national charity known as Geriaction Inc. In 1991 further changes allowed the restructuring of Geriaction into a truly national body with each state branch having representation on the newly formed National Council.

Today Geriaction is a professional organisation that is committed to improving the quality of life of all older persons through advocacy, education and support to members. Geriaction is registered under the Charitable Collection Act. Funds are derived mainly from membership subscription and education programs.
